Just an update on the backpacks for the "Project Homeless Connect" to be held tomorrow (4/30) at the Mercy Center. We were able to deliver 40+ backpacks all filled with a blanket, toothbrush, toothpaste and many other toys, trinkets and fun stuff. I hope the Emergency Shelter Delegates will be able to make a childs day!!!!!!!!!!! Wish we could be there ourselves but neither Wendy or myself could shake work!!! bummer.

We are collecting for the next Project Homeless connect so if you have an idea or need info....give a call!!

We are working to put together a play set work day at the Emergency Shelter. We are planning on helping another group to put together a play set at the shelter. More info on that to follow.

Please feel free to contact Wendy 208-2202 or Kim 449-5148 with any questions, concerns or ideas you may have.

See you soon!!

The Emergency Shelter is in need of car seats. If you can help please let me know or you can just drop them off at the shelter!!
Hello Friends!!! April is shaping up to be a busy month. We will be delivering Easter dinner to the Safe Shelter and the Emergency Shelter. We provide the meat, potatoes and all the amenities right from the grocery store. The residents do the cooking so that is an easy gig!

The Project Homeless Connect is coming up April 30th. We may not be able to attend due to work schedules of Wendy and myself, however we are committed to supplying at least 40 backpacks for Sherry to give out at the event. These will be packed with a blanket, personal items and an age appropriate toy!

We are also going to put together some easter baskets for the children at the shelters. So If you have any backpacks, backpack items, or Easter Basket fun.....just give us a call!!
Kim Kratt put the finishing touches on our Outdoor Play-Pooh Room!! Isn't it so cute!!!! If you would like to see it first hand just give us a call. We could do some toy cleaning while we are there!!!
Contact us anytime at 208-2202 (Wendy) or 449-5148 (Kim)

Play room finished!!

We finished painting the playroom at the new safe shelter. It is spectacular. We did a "Welcome to the Forest" room. The opossoms are so cute, not to mention the skunk, squirrels and the bunnies playing leap frog. The pictures don't do it justice. We have lots of toys, baby dolls, farm animals, a doll house, and a tool box. We didn't forget the trucks, cars and the kitchen complete with a shopping cart, food and dishes. We put new games and puzzles in the game corner. There is something for everyone!

They are moving in on Thursday, so thanks to all for helping us get everything done for the kids.
Thanks to the wonderful painters, Kim Kratt, Vanessa Mummaw, Bev Smith, Dawna Lee-Williams, Pat Geiger, Tom & Mary Pearcy, Ashley Mainwerri, and Lisa Gathright. Rocky and I, Wendy and Jamie could never have done it by ourselves!!!! Thanks also to PJ Reynolds, her mom, and Barb Balkin for the wonderful food they provided for us while we were working.

Here we go!!!! We are off and running for the new safe shelter. We have a final plan for rooms and are ready to get started. We will have four days to finish the playroom, living room and as many of the bedrooms as we can before they move in.

I have great faith that we can accomplish much of it with everyone's help. We will be painting from 1oam - 4pm on Sunday 11/23 and then again on Friday 11/28, Saturday 11/29 and finishing up on Sunday 11/30 (same times 10-4).

We also need to have the toys together, placed in the playroom, mount the TV in the living room and clean up...so even if you think you can't paint (and we don't believe that anyway), there will be plenty to do!

Call Wendy (208-2208) or myself (Kim 449-5148) and let us know when you can help...bring a group and have some fun.

The Safe shelter is moving and we are looking forward to putting together a new playroom...complete with a wall mural and lots of toys. We are contemplating a game room complete with video games and possibly a computer.

We are waiting to hear where the new location will be, we will have a planning session and then we will be off and running to get things done before move in day.

We will be in touch for volunteers!!!!

Back from the Marathon

Hello to all!!! We are back from the Marathon and are very proud of ourselves. We ended up with 20 runners with 21 participating in all. All of the teams finished with good times and speaking of good times....one was had by all. We were all smiling even when the elevators in the hotel wouldn't work....it wasn't like we were on the 20th floor or anything. Or were we?

Many of us who have never run a marathon before were excited to finish and experience the race. Some of us are dedicated to running next year.

A big thanks from Wendy and myself to all that participated and donated. We can't express how we feel when people take interest in a cause so dear to our hearts and many others. We experienced heart felt dedication to our charity and fully expect to continue to grow. With the help of these 21 runners and others.....we CAN make a difference in the lives of children in our area.

Pictures are on the way and will be posted soon!!

Thanks again

Kim
